Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to mentor and guide the development of structured learning paths and training programs for individuals seeking to build expertise in the detection, analysis, and response to malware, with a particular focus on spyware and digital forensics. The mentor will also be responsible for researching emerging trends in cybersecurity, malware, and digital forensics, and using this research to continuously enhance learning materials, ensuring that they align with industry best practices and real-world challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Research & Development of Learning Paths:
- Conduct research on current trends in malware, digital forensics, and incident response to ensure learning paths are up-to-date with the latest technologies, threats, and investigative methods.
- Develop comprehensive learning paths and curricula tailored to various skill levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced), focusing on malware detection, digital forensics, and cybersecurity incident response.
- Identify key learning objectives and outcomes for each stage of the learning path, ensuring that content is progressive, engaging, and practical.
2. Curriculum Design and Content Creation:
- Develop high-quality training materials, including presentations, guides, lab exercises, quizzes, and case studies, that align with the developed learning paths.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure that the learning content is accurate, comprehensive, and aligned with industry standards.
- Create real-world, scenario-based training exercises and challenges that simulate real-world malware analysis, incident response, and digital forensics cases.
3. Assessment and Evaluation:
- Design and implement assessments, including multiple-choice questions, practical labs, and case studies, to evaluate the progress and understanding of learners.
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of learning paths and materials, gathering feedback from learners to ensure continuous improvement.
- Develop practical exercises and hands-on labs that allow learners to practice malware analysis, incident response, and forensic investigations in a controlled environment.
4. Community Engagement and Networking:
- Facilitate networking opportunities among participants and mentors to encourage collaborative learning and sharing of best practices.
- Contribute to the establishment of a mentorship network by engaging external cybersecurity experts when needed.
Skills and Competencies:
- Instructional Design & Curriculum Development:
- Strong background in instructional design, with experience in developing structured learning paths, training programs, and e-learning content.
- Knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) and authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Moodle).
- Ability to translate complex cybersecurity and forensics topics into clear, engaging, and accessible learning modules.
- Malware Analysis & Digital Forensics Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of malware analysis, spyware detection, and digital forensics tools and techniques.
- Experience with common malware analysis tools (e.g., IDA Pro, Ghidra, Wireshark, Volatility).
- Familiarity with incident response frameworks (e.g., NIST, SANS) and knowledge of forensic methodologies for investigating cyber incidents.
- Cybersecurity Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of cyber threats, malware families (e.g., ransomware, rootkits, spyware), and defensive strategies.
- Familiarity with common cybersecurity frameworks and compliance regulations (e.g., NIST-800- 53, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
- Understanding of network security, data protection, and incident response practices in real-world environments.
Key Deliverables:
Learning Paths: Fully developed and structured learning paths for malware analysis, digital forensics, and incident response.
Training Materials: High-quality, engaging training materials (e.g., courses, guides, labs, exercises) aligned with industry best practices.
Assessment Tools: Effective quizzes, exams, practical labs, and assignments that measure learner progress and understanding.
Collaboration Outcomes: Successful collaboration with internal teams, external experts, and industry organizations to refine and improve training materials.
