Communications Officer

Job Description

JOSA, a Jordanian social enterprise dedicated to promote open source technologies in Jordan, is seeking a creative, tech-savvy, and highly organized individual to join our team as a Communications Officer.

The Communications Officer will be responsible for building and maintaining a vibrant public presence for JOSA and its community activities. This includes leading social media efforts, producing content, ensuring brand consistency, and supporting outreach and community engagement efforts.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Co-develop and implement a communications and media strategy for JOSA and its community.
• Ensure active, consistent, and engaging presence on social media platforms by spotting and leveraging relevant trends to increase visibility and outreach, and by providing regular performance reports on social media platforms and digital engagement.
• Create engaging and visually compelling multimedia content —such as articles, photography, videos, infographics, and newsletters— tailored for diverse platforms and audiences.
• Capture and curate documentation of events, activities, and milestones through articles,  photos and short-form videos.
• Maintain and update JOSA's websites with relevant content, and produce and disseminate regular newsletters.
• Initiate and support media opportunities, campaigns, collaborations, and public relations activities to amplify JOSA’s reach and strengthen its visibility across diverse audiences.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Passionate about JOSA’s mission and open source.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
• Experience managing social media platforms and digital communication tools.
• Ability to produce creative and visually appealing  content.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Previous experience in civil society, tech spaces, or creative industries is a plus.

REPORTING

The Communications Officer reports to the  Executive Director.
